I don't know about you, but when my toilet goes on the fritz or I find my basement overrun with water beetles....I want someone there to fix it.....like....yesterday. So what do I do? I go to my phone book to find the closest plumber/exterminator/knight in shining amour to my area. When I find the service section I am looking for, my eyes immediately start scanning for my location. Ads that list one phone number and no indication of where they are located are not going to be the first ones I call....why? Because I want my toilet working NOW....I want the creepy crawlies out of my basement NOW...and I don't want to mess with calling someone who may or may not be located close to me....or even near my city. Phonebooks compass a pretty vast area.
It only makes sense to list several phone numbers in your yellowpage ad in order to A. Appear local to frantic customers looking for someone ASAP to remedy their home service dilemma....and B. Appear professional and established in your market. Nobody wants to look like the business that may be run out of an abandoned warehouse downtown. I am ten times more likely to let someone in my house whose ad makes them appear legitimate.
